The Awesome Stainless steel Kelly Kettle®
Simply, simple and simple!
We are always looking for ways to be innovative, efficient and
maximize our enjoyment. Soon we will be receiving our Stainless
Steel Kelly Kettle and tell you what we think of it and how it
can greatly benefit you on your outdoor adventures or as a
simple but highly effective emergency stove! We will also soon
publish some recipes here that you can use with your own Kelly
stove!
Most people use the Kelly Kettle outdoors when hiking, camping,
kayaking, fishing, boating, RVing etc, but the Mad Dogs have to be different.
We want to see how the Kelly Kettle does when used on a day to
day basis onboard our sailboat
Mad Dog Voyager.
Our first impression is that the Kelly Kettle is a fantastic
time & fuel saver. Due to it's ingenious design, the heat is
funneled through the internal chimney. This internal chimney
presents more surface area than a regular kettle and the water
sits in a thinner "layer" hugging this chimney. Rather than
letting the heat flow up and around the outside of the kettle
like most regular kettles (heating the handle until it's too hot
to handle), the internal chimney of the Kelly Kettle funnels the
heat "inside" and out the top. Depending on what you are cooking
or preparing, a small pot can be set on top and heated with the
"waste" heat. (see the photos on this page for a better
understanding).
Glen and the other folks at Kelly Kettle are quick and very
responsive to answer any questions.
Once our Stainless Steel Kelly Kettle arrives, we'll be testing
it out and giving you a full update. Until then...

review:
The most under rated camping stove on the planet!
Pros: Solid and very affordable versus any fuel
stove (Such as Peak 1, Coleman, JetBoil, MSR, etc).
No need to carry expensive fuel when you have a Kelly Kettle!
Cons:
We should have had one 35 years ago when we were backpacking
extensively in
the Canadian Rocky Mountains!
